Wayne Rooney Pays Tribute To Scholes

Wayne Rooney has heaped praise on Paul Scholes calling him the best he ever played with.

Scholes called time on his seventeen year career this week as Manchester United's 2010/11 season came to a close.

Despite retiring from the game Scholes is set to stay at Old Trafford as a coach, working alongside Alex Ferguson, next season.

And Rooney had nothing but praise for Scholes and admits that he will be greatly missed on the pitch.

Speaking to TalkSPORT Rooney said: "He will be missed greatly. He is definitely the best player I have played with.

"I tried to ask him what he was doing but you don't get much out of him. I didn't think it would come this quickly.

"Everyone will be sad to see him stop. He is a great player."

This season saw Manchester United lift a nineteenth league title but they missed on the Champion's League title at the weekend - falling 3-1 to Barcelona.
