Baggies sweat on Fletcher fitness

West Brom will be hoping Darren Fletcher does not aggravate a leg injury when he lines up for Scotland in Slovakia on Tuesday night.

The 32-year-old midfielder picked up a dead leg during the 1-1 World Cup qualifying draw with Lithuania on Saturday and had to leave the action at half time.

It was feared that Fletcher would miss out the second Group F game this week, but the former Manchester United man stressed that he felt okay and was willing to play if called upon by Scotland boss Gordon Strachan.

"Of course I'd risk it, but that's down to the manager as well if I'm able to play," the captain said.

"Fingers crossed I'm available for selection. I'm desperate to play."

It's been revealed that Fletcher has passed a fitness test and is set to be in the side with Albion boss Tony Pulis no doubt keeping his fingers crossed that he comes through it unscathed as West Brom have a tough Premier League game against Tottenham at the Hawthorns on Saturday.
