Caldwell talks up attacking prowess despite stalemate

Wigan boss Gary Caldwell believes his side are up there with the best attacking teams in the Championship despite their dull 0-0 draw with Fulham.

The Latics registered just two shots on target all game to stay rooted inside the relegation zone.

They also set a new club record for the longest winless streak against a single club after failing to beat the Londoners in any of their last 16 matches.

Wigan had plenty of shots on goal throughout, with Will Grigg, Michael Jacobs and Jordi Gomez all firing wide as the home side enjoyed good possession.

Chris Martin wasted Fulham's best chance of the game when he failed to direct a header from Jozabed's sublime cross.

Ragnar Sigurdsson also saw a goalbound header blocked for the Londoners in a game of few attacks.

"I think if we can get our defending right, we will win a lot of football matches," said Caldwell. "As an attacking team, I don't think there's many better in the league.

"The way we pass the ball is excellent, we cause teams a lot of problems, and we have attacking players who can score goals.

"We've scored in all but one game this season, and that is our main strength. We are very good going forward and that will get us points this season.

"If we can get the defending bit right, we'll be very difficult to play against.

"We have to continue to work hard as a team and to defend as a team. We have to defend from the front and make sure we eliminate individual errors.

"We will keep working hard and I am confident that we can start to climb the table in the coming weeks."

Fulham head coach Head Coach Slavisa Jokanovic said he was not satisfied with the Cottagers' overall performance.

"I cannot be satisfied because we didn't win the game," Jokanovic said. "In my opinion we played very well, especially in the first 45 minutes.

"We defended very well but it was the same problems as the last two games. We had a problem opening up the game and we didn't create enough chances.

"We were moving around the box but weren't creating enough chances and we didn't score.

"At the end it's good news because we kept the clean sheet but we didn't score a goal.

"We are a new team and we are trying to build something different. The last few games we have been playing well but we didn't create enough chances and didn't get enough goals."

"We have to keep working to find a solution to this problem and it is as simple as that. We have to be able to show the energy to win the game."
