Chelsea are ready to test Tottenham's resolve by making a £20million move for defender Ben Davies, reports have claimed.
Chelsea have already drafted in Spanish left-back Marcos Alonso this summer, but Blues boss Antonio Conte wants further reinforcements and is believed to have put Davies at the top of his wanted list.
Chelsea are targeting the former Swansea star as it would help meet the regulations regards home grown players, but Tottenham are likely to snub any approach from their London rivals.
The 23-year-old is tied to Spurs until 2019 and boss Mauricio Pochettino is unlikely to entertain the idea of allowing the Wales international to leave White Hart Lane.
That will not stop Chelsea from making an approach though, and they could test the water by making a bid when the January transfer window opens.
Middlesbrough’s Ben Gibson and Burnley’s Michael Keane have also been mentioned, but it is thought Davies is the top target.
