Keane was never leaving - Dyche

Burnley boss Sean Dyche insists defender Michael Keane was never leaving to join Leicester during the summer transfer window.

The 23-year-old joined the Clarets on a permanent deal from Manchester United in 2015 and still has two years left to run on his current deal.

It's understood that the newly-promoted side fended off six bids from Premier League champions Leicester during the summer transfer window.

Dyche insists that the club are financially stable enough to hold on to their key assets and admitted that Keane was never heading out of Turf Moor.

"It was simple, we were never going to sell him," Dyche said.

"It's important to keep all of your best players and Michael is among a group of very good players here, I think.

"That's the good thing about being where we are at. We haven’t got riches beyond compare to throw around but we are strong enough financially to not have to sell players."
