Ranieri reveals what he must do for Musa

Claudio Ranieri admits he must help Ahmed Musa "understand the Premier League" after recalling him for City's EFL Cup loss to Chelsea.

The Leicester City manager wants Musa to improve his understanding of the English game after dropping him from his Premier League line-up in recent weeks.

The Nigerian striker, an £18million summer signing from CSKA Moscow, began the season as Jamie Vardy's strike partner at Hull City but has been replaced in that role by club record buy Islam Slimani.

Musa was handed his second start this season in Tuesday's defeat to Chelsea, impressing before being replaced by Vardy as the Foxes threw away a 2-0 lead and they crashed out 4-2 after extra time.

Ranieri said: "For us, that is good, and Ahmed Musa must understand much better the Premier League, but it is okay. For me it is important to develop all the squad and not just the 14 players.

"We have a chance to go through to the next round but it wasn't possible, but it is okay.

"I am happy with our performance until 2-0. We started very well and we were in control of the match.

"Chelsea had more possession but we were very smart and clever to score twice."
