Stopper came Klose to Albion move

Norwich City defender Timm Klose has revealed that West Brom tried and failed to sign him during the summer transfer window.

The 28-year-old Switzerland international only moved to England in January when Canaries boss Alex Neil signed him from German Bundesliga outfit Wolfsburg.

Klose showed he had the ability to play at the top level in 10 first-team outings for Norwich but could not prevent them from being relegated after just one season in the Premier League.

The return to the Championship resulted in Klose pondering his future as he didn't want to risk losing his place in the Swiss national side and he revealed that the Baggies made an enquiry to hand him an instant return to the top flight.

But Norwich snubbed the offer and Klose is now focused on helping the club secure promotion back to the big time at the first time of asking.

He told ESPN: "I weighed up my options. I did not want to lose my place in the national team without a fight, but it was also clear that it will be difficult to show what I could do at another club.

"There were offers, and we looked at the one we received from West Bromwich, but Norwich turned down the offer."
