Wake-up call for Foxes

Claudio Ranieri says Leicester's Champions League win at Club Brugge may ignite their season after a sluggish start.

The Premier League champions have managed just four points from as many games in their domestic campaign so far but they secured an impressive 3-0 win on the road in Europe on Wednesday.

Marc Albrighton opened the scoring with Leicester's first shot on goal and Riyad Mahrez hit a brace as the Foxes opened up their Champions League account with a victory.

Ranieri was delighted with the victory and he felt it was the perfect response to the 4-1 defeat at Liverpool at the weekend.

"I said to the players when you hear the Champions League music it charges the battery and makes you fight," he told BT Sport.

"It was an important win for us after the Liverpool defeat. We scored very early and that gave us more confidence during all the match.

"Club Brugge moved the ball very well, they had the control of the ball but we had control of the match, and that was good for us. Maybe at the beginning we surprised them."
