Hamilton goes quickest in Malaysia

Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton was in fine form on Saturday as he claimed pole position for Sunday's Malaysian Grand Prix.

The Brit has had to endure a difficult few weeks, with Nico Rosberg overtaking him in the Drivers' Championship but Hamilton bounced back on Saturday.

He was 0.414 seconds quicker than Rosberg who finished just ahead of Red Bull youngster Max Verstappen.

Verstappen finished narrowly clear of team-mate Daniel Ricciardo while Ferrari duo Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen claimed fifth and sixth places respectively.

The top 10 was rounded off by Sergio Perez, Nico Hulkenberg, Jenson Button and Felipe Massa.

Both Red Bulls are expected to go close during Sunday's race and Hamilton admits they will be pushed all the way despite their blistering pace.

He told Sky Sports F1: "It will be a close race because they [rivals] have very good long runs. But I think we were looking pretty good as well."
