Jenson Button sees no quick solution.
Button does not expect a miracle return.
The Englishman finished 15th in the opening Australian Grand Prix, with team-mate Rubens Barrichello 11th.
Honda were trying out new parts at Sepang in an attempt to solve instability during braking and a lack of front-end grip.
The team fear they may be seeing a recurrence of aerodynamic problems that plagued them at the start of both the last two seasons.
English rookie Lewis Hamilton continued his impressive form following third place on his debut with the fastest time in wet conditions on Thursday.
And another new driver, Heikki Kovalainen of Renault, had a disastrous first race in Melbourne, but was a confidence-boosting fastest on Friday ahead of the Ferrari of Felipe Massa.
Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen, winner in Australia, was fastest on the first two days of the test and his team are expected to be tough to beat again in Malaysia.
