Ricciardo bullish of race chances

Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo is not giving up hope of claiming a Grand Prix victory before the end of the 2016 season.

Ricciardo was very close to topping the podium in Singapore last time out, finishing second behind Mercedes star Nico Rosberg, and the performance has provided a big momentum boost going into the six races.

The Australian has recorded another three runner-up finishes this term with the most famous coming at the Monaco GP, where he just missed out after being passed by Silver Arrows ace Lewis Hamilton.

Time is running out for the 27-year-old to taste success for the first time in this campaign but the spirits have not been dampened despite the search still going on.

"I'm all about 2016. I want a victory by the end of the season," Ricciardo said. "In the dry, it (Singapore) was probably our last chance. But if the rain comes when we want it, it could still work out."

Next up is the Malaysian GP on October 2 and Ricciardo will be hoping he conditions favour his Red Bull car enough to get the better of the Mercedes duo.

The Aussie is currently sitting third in the Drivers' Championship and he will be aiming to cement this position with Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel just 26 points behind in fourth.
