Andy Flower believes that England will turn in more consistent performances now they have reached the knock out stages of the world cup.

England road through the qualifying group has been far from straight forward - but they have been the most entertaining side of the world cup so far.

Their final Group B match once again went down to the wire as they won by eighteen runs as they managed to post a target of just 243 runs.

Despite the win they had to wait for other results to go their way and South Africa’s demolition of Bangladesh yesterday saw England go through.

But Flower is confident that England can now pick up the pace because of the pressure than now comes with every match.

Speaking to the BBC Flower said:  "This side perform well under pressure. Each game now will be a pressure situation and I trust our guys to handle themselves very well."

“There's no more pressured situation than an Ashes series and you know how we performed during that [England beat Australia 3-1 this winter].

"And the last world tournament that we played in we won - the Twenty20 World Cup in the West Indies 18 months ago."
