Andy Turner picked up yesterday where he ended the 2010 season as he produced two great victories in the 100m and 200m hurdles.

The Great Manchester Games kicked off a fantastic season for the hurdler twelve months ago and yesterday he returned to the city to compete on Deansgate once again.

Turner, who is now ranked third in the world, is the top man in Europe after walking away with gold medals at both the European Championships and Commonwealth Games last year.

Turner saw off Terrence Tramell in the 100m race before beating former 400m Olympic champion Felix Sanchez over the 200m hurdles.

Jessica Enis was also in action yesterday over the 100m hurdles as she assessed her form after an ankle injury.

She clocked a time of 12.88 seconds for the hurdles, finishing third behind specialists Ginnie Crawford and Danielle Carruthers.

Speaking to the BBC after her race she said: "One massive positive to take from the day is that my ankle feels good.

"It's a bit of a relief to be back in competition and I'm just excited about the season now. If someone had said two weeks ago that I would be in Manchester running that sort of time in the hurdles, I would have been very happy with that.

"So I'm glad I did it and now I can move on. To get into this shape so quickly is quite promising."

Christine Ohuruogu was also in action yesterday as she too is trying to make a comeback after an injury hit couple of years.

She finished fourth in the 200m behind American and winner Alison Felix.
