Andy Turner picked up Team GB's second medal of the world championships as he won a bronze in the 110m hurdles.
Once again it was a final that was full of controversy as winner Dayron Robles was disqualified.
At the end of the race Turner, who had had a poor semi-final, found himself in fourth behind Robles, Jason Richardson and Liu Xiang.
But Robles was disqualified for impeding Xiang, who at the time looked like he was going to snatch the gold, as he grabbed hold of the Chines athletes left arm in an untidy race from the Cuban.
He crossed the line in 13.14 seconds and went on a lap of victory - but it wasn't to last long as protests went in from the Chines camp and a counter protest from Cuba before it was announced that Robles would not receive the gold.
American Richardson, who has been a revelation in recent weeks over the barriers, got the gold while Xiang received the silver and Turner was promoted to bronze.
Speaking to the Press Association, Turner said: "Oh my god, I've got mixed emotions - I don't know what to do.
"I want to cry, but I don't want to cry - I didn't want to win a medal by default, but I have won a World Championship bronze medal and I'm over the moon with that."
"But I'm still disappointed with how I ran it. I won't believe this is happening until I have got that medal round my neck.
"I've thought about this and dreamt about winning a world medal after my success in Barcelona (at the European Championships) last year, but it was a big step and I just won't believe it until I've got that medal."
Will Sharman was also in the 110m hurdles final and he finished joint fifth with Aries Merritt.
