Dwain Chambers Named In GB Squad

Dwain Chambers has been named in the GB squad for the European Team Championships in Leira.

The sprinter served a two year ban for testing positive for the performance enhancing drug THG and has since struggled to get into competitions.

But with a sprint time of 10.06 seconds so far this summer Chambers’ inclusion in the squad should secure the full ten points for team GB.

Other big names that are included in the line-up are Olympic Champion Christine Ohuruogu and triple jumper Phillips Idowu.

It has been a good few days for Chambers and Ohuruogu who both won in a meeting in Paris. Olympic champion Ohuruogu stormed to victory in her 400 metre race while Chambers overcame a poor start to claim victory.

But the team GB squad for the European event are very strong this year with long distance running sensation Mo Farah, long jumper Chris Tomlinson and hurdler Andy Greene all included in the line-up.

In the women’s side of the squad Lee McConnell, Jenny Meadows and Helen Clitheroe will all be joining Ohuruogu.
