England cruised to a 2-0 lead in the series over Pakistan as they lost just a single wicket whilst on the hunt for the 118 runs to seal victory.

Having bowled out Pakistan for seventh two in the first innings England were always in the driving seat as they went on to make 251, Kevin Pieterson making eighty to give England the lead.

But as Pakistan stepped up to the crease for the second innings they made more of a fight of it as Zulqarnain Haider frustrated England's bowlers all day yesterday.

Pakistan resumed on 291-9 this morning and could only add five more runs until Mohammad Asif was caught by Pieterson from a Stuart broad ball.

England needed just 118 for a second victory and they did get off to a shaky start as Alastair Cook's poor batting form continued as he was out for just four runs.

Trott stepped up to join Strauss and the pair began to head towards their target. Haider almost held onto a thick edge off the captain's bat but Pakistan's poor fielding continued to plague them and Strauss survived.

Strauss and Trott brought England home, both reaching a half century, to secure a second win over the tourists.

With just two tests left Pakistan now can only draw the series while the whitewash is still possible for England.

The third Test gets underway at The Oval on August 18.
