The Aviva GB & NI team departed for Paris  ahead of the European Indoor Championships, which gets under way on Friday.

The 32-strong team includes newly crowned 5000m British record holder Mo Farah, who will defend his 3000m title won in Turin in 2009; sprinter Harry Aikines-Areetey who overcame injury to secure his place with a season’s best time in the 60m; and former heptathlete Kelly Sotherton, in her new role as a 400m athlete.

10 out of the 32 athletes in the team will be also making their first international senior appearance, including schoolgirl Jodie Williams; the impressive 17 year old already has a double sprint World Youth and 100m World Junior title to her name, and took her first senior title at the Aviva Indoor UK Trials and Championships in Sheffield earlier this month.

The 31st European Indoor Athletic Championships are held in Paris from Friday 3rd - Sunday 6th March 2011.

Aviva are proud to have been supporting British athletics since 1999. In 2011, Aviva will help pave the way for British athletes by hosting six world class athletics events on home soil - the Aviva Series, and supporting the Aviva GB & NI junior, senior and Paralympics teams as they prepare for major events and championships.
