Rugby-watching netball fans will tell you never to underestimate the Scots after the team’s performance in this season’s 6 Nations, the same applies to the Glasgow Wildcats in this season’s Co-operative Netball Superleague.

The team are sitting pretty in sixth after the 14th round and after a strong start, coupled with a strong comeback against Team Northumbria saw them bag another two points; away from home to boot.  Leading from the front seems to work for the Glasgow outfit.

A crazy piece of scheduling meant the home team were barely off the plane from Bath, where they had played at 8pm on Friday night, before they were on court for a 2pm start on Saturday. It was more than a little unfair.

Wildcats however are looking to climb the league and have been putting in the hard graft that is now paying dividends.  They won the first quarter by four goals before falling behind in the second.

Grit and determination has been a trademark of the ‘Cats and while a tired Team North worked hard to get back in the match, the Scots pressed on in the second half and are fuelling their performances with confidence and self-belief which this weekend takes them to sixth place in the table.

Assistant coach, Mary Tough said, "Wildcats started the game strongly with a dominant performance from Lesley McDonald at goal-shooter."

But the home side made it an interesting match, "Team Northumbria came back for the second quarter with a consistent performance from Emma Lower.

"Our impressive defence performance, with a high turnover rate allowed our shooting combination of Holmes and McNeill to close out the game with an 88% conversion rate."
