James Anderson has revealed that he is relishing the chance to get back out on the field for the third day of the final Ashes test to face bowler Mitchell Johnson.

England bowled Australia out for 280 in the first innings and currently sit on 167-3 at the end of play.

Strauss once again led the way as he notched up a total of sixty while Pietersen managed thirty six.

Cook was still at the crease at the end of play, unbeaten on sixty one while Anderson survived anything that the Aussies threw at him.

Speaking to Sky Sports he said: "It was a tough couple of overs.

"Johnson was running in hard striving to get me out and it was nice to get through that and do my job for the team.

"It is an important role for the team and I enjoy the challenge of it.

"We were talking a lot out there, figuring out when to take runs and when not to. Hopefully I can score some runs tomorrow. I am hoping to get into double figures."

Anderson has taken twenty one wickets during this Ashes series and Brad Haddin, Steve Smith, Peter Siddle and Ben Hilfenhaus were his latest victims.

England have already retained the Ashes with a win in Melbourne but they can win the series outright should they be victorious  in Sydney.
