The Land Rover Burghley Horse trials are one of the world’s top 3 day events. The best riders and horses from across the globe head to Stamford in Lincolnshire, and thousands of spectators will be soaking up the unique atmosphere.

Horse trials at Burghley House have a rich heritage. They began being held in 1961  and since then no other international horse trials site has staged as many Championships, a record ten in all including the first World Championship in 1966.

Nowadays, top international horse sport is combined with other activities such as  a  veritable shop-fest just a stones throw from the main arena,  offering some of the best shopping to be found outside of the capital. For the essential as well as the exclusive; from a table cloth to a bespoke tree house, from a roasting dish to a top spec Range Rover, and from summer silks to winter fashion.

Alongside the wide avenues that host so many well-known brands; county tailors, garden nurseries and even Bond Street jewellers, Burghley offers six specialist pavilions.

Burghley Lifestyle is dedicated to the decorative and inspirational, offering many products that are exclusive to Burghley. Country Living Magazine pavilion has become a must-stop for many. For those who start their Christmas shopping at Burghley, The Rural Craft Association Pavilions remain a popular attraction.

The trade stands offer a wide-ranging selection of the unique and unusual providing the ideal gift solution while the much acclaimed Burghley Foodwalk offers culinary delights and with its continental café atmosphere is the ideal spot for relaxing refreshment.

And of course where better to procure anything and everything connected to the horse than at one of the world’s top equestrian events.

The two specialist equestrian areas; The World of the Horse and The Horse Village supply exactly that, as well as providing a ‘Celebrity Talk Area’ ideal for bagging autographs whilst keeping an eye on the sporting action on the big screen.

With car parking guaranteed, four stress-free days of shopping and browsing amongst the 500 plus shops can be enjoyed at the same time as seeing some of the world’s best horses and riders in action.

This video features course designer Captain Mark Phillips, the 2009 winner Oliver Townend and Burghley Director Elizabeth Inman looking forward to the event.
