The successful Welsh sportswoman and personality is due to receive a MBE for her service to sport at The Queen’s Birthday Honours, Windsor Castle this coming October.

Achieving international honours in four different sporting disciplines throughout her career, Non has proved that she is a force to be reckoned with.

Perhaps most notable for her performances on the rugby pitch, scoring  64 international tries in 87 caps for Wales before retiring from Rugby in 2010, she is recognised as Wales’ all time leading points scorer.

Outside of Rugby, Non has achieved sporting prowess in other fields, becoming a silver medallist in both 1994 and 1998 Commonwealth games for Judo and a British silver medallist for wrestling in the British championships 2010.

Non’s career thus far has seen the creation of many firsts for women within the sporting world; becoming the first female rugby commentator for Real Radio 2001 as well as the first female pundit for the ITV Rugby World Cup 2007.

She was also the first woman to compete in two separate events, Weightlifting and Judo, at the same Commonwealth Games in 2002. Her accomplishments have allowed her to further her career, as a presenter on BBC Wales reporting on live rugby matches and writing a BBC online women’s rugby column.

As well as being awarded a MBE this year, she has also recently been awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award 2011 at the Rugby Writers Dinner further, consolidating her presence and influence within the sporting world.
