Paula Radcliffe Won't Take It Easy In Olympic Year

Paula Radcliffe admits that she will no intention of playing safe on the run up to the 2012 Olympic Games.

Radcliffe booked her spot on the Great Britain squad earlier this year when she ran the Berlin marathon - her first big race after having her second child and being plagued by injury.

But she is still missing an Olympic medal after two disappointing performances in Athens and Beijing.

However she is hoping that London will be where she will get it right - but she is just going to take training and preparation races as they come.

Speaking to Sky Sports Radcliffe said: "People say to me, 'Oh, you should be really careful and just race there or don't race at all in the build-up,'

"I've done that and it didn't work then, either. Sometimes you want to just go with what feels right."

"And I guess for me realistically as well it probably is my last Olympics, and the other Olympics haven't gone really well, so that's kind of been another reason why it is.

"But at the same time, I think perversely because of what I've been through at the other two Olympics, it's not as big. A lot of it actually does come down to luck. Stressing over it doesn't do a whole lot of good."

Radcliffe was in New York this weekend to watch the marathon, a race she has run and won in the past.
