Phillips Idowu began the defence of his triple jump world title as he qualified for the final with just one jump.
The Brit is the hot favourite with the absence of his rival Teddy Tamgho, not in Daegu due to injury, and he didn't hang around in the morning session as he leapt to 17.17 metres - seven centimetres longer that the qualifying length required.
Speaking to ESPN he said: "It was easy and I feel good. Qualifying hasn't often been a problem for me so it's just a case of going out there, putting a solid runway together, putting a solid jump together and it was enough to qualify.
"(Now) I've got to go out there and put a good jump in in the final which is enough to win. You can only defeat who is here.
"There are going to be a bunch of guys competing in the final so I can't take anything lightly."
There was also good new for Tiffany Porter in the 100m hurdles as she came through her heat - winning in 12.84 seconds.
It is the first global championships that Porter has represented Great Britain - running for the USA as a junior.
But there was not such good news for 800m runner Jenny Meadows as she missed out on a spot in the final.
Meadows won a bronze medal two years ago but could only manage third in her heat and her time was not quick enough to bag a fastest loser spot.
