Simon Burnett added to England's medal tally earlier today as he picked up a silver medal in the 100m freestyle.
It has been gold for Burnett four years ago in Melbourne but he has struggled with form in recent years, but looked to be getting back to his best.
He had to give up the top spot to Canadian Brent Hayden as he set a Commonwealth Games record as he stopped the clock at 47.98 seconds.
It was a tight race in the final 50m and Hayden surged in the final 25m to claim Canada's second gold medal in the pool of the meet.
Burnett posted a personal best time of 48.54 seconds to hold off Olympic silver medalist Eamon Sullivan of Australia, who finished in 48.69 seconds.
Speaking to the BBC after the race he said: "I can't believe I got second, I'm absolutely thrilled with that
"Brent has been on fire. I knew he was going to be almost impossible to beat for gold. I was shooting for bronze really because Eamon was also looking really good.
"I know when you get in there anything can happen and I just tried to stay tough. That last 10m was very painful."
Liam Tancock was back in action today as he hope to add the 100m backstroke gold to the 50m backstroke gold that he won earlier in the week.
Tancock finished in a time of 54.32 seconds to finish second fastest. Australia's Ashley Delaney posted the quickest time of the evening, winning in 54.31 second, and will be Tancock's biggest competition for gold in the final.
