Surrey Storm surged to as tenth win of the season, taming the Celtic Dragons with a 68-29 win.

The victory restores the two-point gap between them and TeamBath who play Hertfordshire Mavericks on Monday evening in the Co-operative Netball Superleague.

It was the home-side’s final match at Guildford Spectrum before the big move to their new home ground in the purpose built grandeur of the Surrey Sports Park.

And after their first ever Superleague loss on Monday against Northern Thunder the team bounced back with a comprehensive demolition of the Dragons.

The tips and interceptions came fast and furious, as Surrey breezed to an 18-5 lead by the end of the first quarter. New signing Janet Coulburne and Hannah Reid look to be building a good understanding with each other in the defensive circle.

It was quite a wait for the welsh side to get on the scoreboard, Storm were  nine-goals up and it was half-way through the first 15 before they netted a shot.

It was even tougher for the Dragons in the second period as Surrey upped the turnover balls with Natalie Seaton and Becky Nash foiling Celtic Dragons attempts to control their own centre passes.

Mentor and Mkoloma may have disappeared down under to enjoy the ANZ sunshine, but do not be fooled into thinking they took Storm’s defence with them.  Dragons were only able to engineer six attempts on goal, and landed just two of those.

With a 41-7 lead at the break Surrey Storm were able to try a different line-up. Celtic Dragon used the opportunity to try the untested combinations with some of their own and made more of a match of it in the second half.

Fiesty Dragon Kylie Paynter worked with centre Suzy Drane in the final periods but the result and the win was never in doubt from the opening minute.

The Superleague leaders actually lost the last quarter which will give the young welsh side some heart.

Storm captain Tamsin Greenway was pleased the squad bounced back from the disappointment at the start of the week with an emphatic victory; "It was a great performance.  We wanted to come out strong which was important for our confidence and that’s exactly what we did."

"It was a pleasing step towards the finals and a great crowd once again turned up to cheer us on, they were as brilliant as always".
