It was TeamBath’s final home game of the season on Saturday and they kept the pressure on top-of-the table Surrey Storm with a convincing 62-44 win over Leeds Carnegie.

The visitors ensured a testing start coming back from three-nil down to go toe to toe, goal for goal with the reigning champions, who kept ahead. TeamBath were able to move four clear by the quarter whistle but it came only in the closing minutes.

For the second quarter Cookey and Tett swapped bibs as did Corbin and Binns. Four goals came in quick succession before Dziwoki was able to finally get Leeds onto the scoreboard.

The crowd were treated to something of a shooting masterclass in the second quarter. Carla Dziwoki, who shot a perfect game earlier this season and Pamela Cookey each had their 'eye' in. Cookey scored 13 out of 14 attempts while Dziwoki got 11 out of 11.

As has been her practice this season Bath coach Jess Garland shuffled her side before sending seven players back out, trying different combinations. It took a little while to settle but soon the ball was flying into the shooters and being converted, at the other the tips, intercepts and rebounds were being recycled and returned fast and efficiently.

TeamBath were 47-28 ahead coming out for the final quarter, some fine tuning for Garland saw Corbin move to wing attack.

Leeds were determined not to let Bath pull ahead in the final 15 minutes of the game but the match was won and despite winning the quarter TeamBath took the match.

TeamBath captain Pamela Cookey said: "We did the job, all our players got on and it was good preparation for our next two matches as well as for the play-offs"

TeamBath assistant coach Anna Mayes said: "We effectively saw this game as part of a larger picture that encompasses our next two games against Loughborough and Glasgow."

She added "We played against a good side tonight that defended well and gave us good preparation for our upcoming games."

Leeds co-coach Anna Newell said: "We had three good quarters but the third quarter killed us. We are moving forward with our performances and we can take some satisfaction from our performance, particularly from the last quarter."
