Victoria Pendleton Looking Ahead To 2012

Victoria Pendleton has revealed that she is already gearing up for the 2012 Olympics.

2010 may have been a great year for Pendelton but she is not resting on her laurels as the London Olympics grows every closer.

Speaking to the Press Association Pendleton said: "It's difficult for us. My year tends to run from April to April - I'm on a tax year. But the last year was really good.

"I'm really pleased with the way it went and I'm looking forward to this year's competitions and getting it all sorted for 2012, which is obviously the biggest year."

Pendleton rounded off the year in style as she picked up two silver medals at the World Cup in Melbourne - coming second in the team sprint and the women's sprint.

The World Championships are just ahead Olympic sprint champion, they will be held in Holland in March, but she reveals that they are not her primarily focus.

"I haven't put as much emphasis on the World Championships as I have in previous years, just because my training programme is very much a two-year cycle leading up to the Olympics.

"I made a decision early on that if I had to sacrifice a bit of my race form for the sake of being a better athlete in 2012 I would."
