Lee Westwood Confident Over Injury

Lee Westwood hopes that he can rid himself of his calf injury during his time off over Christmas as he is keen to return to full fitness.

Westwood has struggled with the injury since the summer, taking time off before and after the Ryder Cup in a bid to get the problem under control.

But the world number one admits that he is still not 100% going into the Nedbank Challenge this week.

Speaking to the BBC he said: "Hopefully over Christmas I can get fit and can work on my game," he said.

"Then I will not come into tournaments rusty. I have to get my leg right. During rounds, it's still swelling up."

And while he has already had a successful year - claiming the Ryder Cup and the world number one spot - Westwood is keen to come out on top in South Africa this week.

"I'd love to win here. It's a great tournament and somewhere I've always enjoyed coming to," he added.

"I think 1998 was my first year, I enjoyed it then and I do now. I missed it last year when I didn't play."
