Lee Westwood has revealed that he is gunning for the world number one spot.
The thirty seven year old has just replaced American Phil Mickelson at the world number two and is now ready to take on Tiger Woods for the top spot.
Speaking to The Sun he said: "Hopefully Tiger will keep going. I want to be world No 1 and especially if it means taking on Tiger when he's playing great.
"I want to improve and build up a real rivalry with the world's greatest ever player. As I get older I'm more analytical, positive and worldly wise. And I'm more muscular and I'm stronger.
"So overtaking Tiger is the goal. I shall continue to organise my schedule so that I peak for the Majors and, hopefully, I'll win one of those too.
"But I want Tiger playing well. If I get there it will be even better for that."
2010 has been a good year for Westwood after finishing second at the Masters and the Open before going struggling with a calf injury.
The injury saw him miss the PGA Championships but he returned to action for the first time over the weekend for the Ryder Cup, as Europe tried to wrestle the title away from America.
The Ryder Cup went down to the final singles match as Europe and America were locked ay 13 1/2 points each with just one match left on the course.
But Graeme McDowell held his nerve to take the final point for Europe to ensure Colin Montgomerie and his men would bring the Ryder Cup back home.
