Anyone but Phil - Johnson

Anyone but Phil - Johnson

American big-hitter Dustin Johnson says he will partner anyone at the 2016 Ryder apart from Phil Mickelson.

Johnson has enjoyed arguably the greatest year of his career after finally managing to break his mar duck by clinching the US Open at Oakmont.

'DJ' has also climbed to world number two, taken his PGA Tour title tally to 12 and he is hoping to end the season on another high note with victory in the Tour Championship at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta.

The 32-year-old will have to turn his attentions to the Ryder Cup at Hazeltine shortly after the final event of the campaign, but he has already given his views on potential pairings.

Johnson made it clear that a partnership with Mickelson should not be on the cards after the failed experiment in 2010, where they lost both of their matches together.

The South Carolina-born star says he has no problems with the left-hander but the duo are best kept apart in order to maximise the USA's chances of winning back the trophy from Europe.

"I think I can partner pretty well with pretty much anyone, except for Phil," he said. "Me and Phil don't partner well together."

Captain Davis Love III still has one wildcard left to choose and this will be announced following the conclusion of the Tour Championship, with Bubba Watson, Justin Thomas and Daniel Berger all said to be in with a shout.
