Gunners eye Wenger deal

Arsenal are ready to tie Arsene Wenger down to a new deal in a bid to end rumours linking the Frenchman with the England job.

The Football Association are reported to have put Wenger at the top of their wanted listed following the shock departure of Sam Allardyce last week, and an approach could be on the cards.

Wenger, who has a contract with the Gunners until the end of the season, insists he is fully focused on the club and is not concerning himself with rumours linking him with England.

However, Arsenal officials are concerned and it has been suggested they will offer the 66-year-old a bumper new deal to keep him at the club for the next six years.

Wenger still has his critics among the Gunners faithful as their Premier League title drought continues, but he is still very highly regarded by the powers that be, who are keen to secure his future.

Whether Wenger is willing to commit for that long remains to be seen, but it looks as though he will at the very least see the season out at the Emirates.
