Kolarov facing contract wait

Aleksandar Kolarov may be forced to wait until next summer before discussing a possible Man City contract extension.

The Serbian left-back has enjoyed an upswing in form under boss Pep Guardiola this season and it seems the club would now be open to him remaining longer at the Etihad Stadium.

City insiders, however, have stated there are no talks in the pipeline and there are no negotiations planned at this stage.

Kolarov has 20 months remaining on his present £90,000-a-week deal. He has mainly been played in central defence during City's unbeaten start to the campaign, which will again be put to the test on Sunday against Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane.

The 30-year-old is now one of the longest-serving players at the club after arriving from Lazio back in 2010 for £19m.
