Mazzarri hails 'Watford's Maradona'

Watford boss Walter Mazzarri has put Hornets striker Troy Deeney in the same class as Diego Maradona for his goal at West Ham.

The Watford skipper produced a memorable finish during the Hornets' 4-2 win at the London Stadium last week - chipping the ball in from out wide after seizing on a defensive mix-up.

Deeney, who also netted a second-half penalty as Watford stunned Manchester United with a 3-1 win at Vicarage Road on Sunday, has been compared to one of the all-time greats for his ability to finish in such a precise fashion.

Speaking ahead of the clash with United, Mazzarri hailed Deeney's ability to pull off such a strike, saying only a few players would be capable of such audacity.

"What Deeney did against West Ham was a great goal," the Hornets boss said.

"Only a few players can do it and one of them was Maradona. It was incredible.

"What I ask from Deeney and the whole squad - but Deeney is captain - is continuity."
