McCarthy set for Irish bow

Everton boss Ronald Koeman will be keeping a close eye on whether the Republic of Ireland play James McCarthy against Georgia.

The midfielder has not trained with his Everton team-mates since August but he has gone off on international duty and their assistant boss Roy Keane claims he is looking good in training and is fit to play.

The midfielder has been suffering with a groin strain that has kept him out of the side for all but three games and Everton medical staff will be watching very closely indeed.

Keane said: "I’d like to think he’d be available for Thursday.

"Obviously, we’ve been getting medical feedback from the club doctor and our own doctor but the most important feedback I always look for is from the player."
