Jerez will host 2012 Spanish Grand Prix

Jerez will host a MotoGP race in 2012 with further ongoing negotiations to thrash out a deal that will ensure continued racing until 2016

We'll now look ahead to the future of the event and focus on working together to reach an agreement up until 2016

Agreement has now been reached that ensures the Grand Prix of Spain is at the Circuito de Jerez again in 2012. Negotiations will also continue to ensure the inclusion of the event on the MotoGP calendar for a further four years, a conclusion all parties want to happen.

The Spanish venue is the traditional first GP on the European round. Dorna Sports CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta was pleased to have completed the agreement with the city of Jerez for the upcoming season.

Ezpeleta said "We are delighted to confirm that the 2012 Grand Prix of Spain will be held at the Circuito de Jerez, a very special locale for the MotoGP World Championship."
 
The Dorna CEO added "I'd like to thank the Junta de Andalucía and Jerez de la Frontera City Council for their support in working toward securing this iconic event, We'll now look ahead to the future of the event and focus on working together to reach an agreement up until 2016."
