Ferrari's Michael Schumacher continued his rise up the leaderboard, with an eigth consecutive Magny Cours win.
No one was ever in any doubt as to who was winning this one, as the German led right from the beginning, to edge a little closer to Driver standings leader Alonso.
For a time, it looked like it would be a ferrari one two, too, as team mate Fillippe Massa was right at his rear wing, until he made a third pit stop, allowing Alonson into the second place.
In the Press Conference after the race, Schumacher said: "We were not sure how the race would go because we didn't do any long runs because of some problems we had on Saturday morning so it was a bit of a guess where, and how, the race would go, but I have to say that the car, the tyres, the whole package really worked superbly and it is a great result."
