Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew has admitted that Jonny Williams may need a new start after failing to break into the first team.
The 22-year-old is a product of the Palace youth academy but has been restricted to just 55 appearances, mostly from the bench, since making his debut in 2011.
Williams has really struggled to impose himself at Palace since the 2013-14 season and has been sent out on loan on six separate occasions.
Pardew was keen to give the Wales international a chance this term but, after he suffered an injury during pre-season, the boss opted to send him out on loan to Ipswich.
The 55-year-old has admitted that Williams may be better off looking for a permanent move away to help further his career,
Pardew said: "Jonny and I just can't seem to come together. In pre-season he's fit and then gets injured again. It was a terrible tackle at Farnborough.
"We were at deadline day last month and I'm looking at my numbers and thinking I can't see Jonny getting a game. Really and truly, with the amount of time he's got, I can't keep him here and have him as a substitute.
"I know our fans love him, and again, he may have influenced the game at certain points as a sub more than others or he might have got himself up to speed. He might have.
"We have almost had a discussion in that does Jonny need a new environment? Does he need a new start? It just seems to not be working here."
