Alan Pardew says Crystal Palace fans are seeing a player right at his peak in the shape of midfielder James McArthur.
The Scotland international's energy and and enthusiasm has made him one of the first names on the Eagles team sheet for Pardew, while he has also been able to add a few goals to his game this season, netting twice in five appearances.
Pardew believes McArthur's absence towards the end of last season was more keenly felt than people realised and says it is no coincidence results have improved recently after his return from another injury problem.
"Everyone talks about when we didn't have Yannick Bolasie last season due to injury, but it coincided with McArthur also being out," Pardew told the Croydon Advertiser.
"It was about Bolasie; when is Bolasie coming back and when Bolasie comes back everything will be all right.
"But really it wasn't until Macca came back that we turned back into a decent team again and almost won a cup final.
"It's his enthusiasm and energy. And I think he can get more goals, but I never ask of anything more than him because he gives you everything.
"He literally falls down in the dressing room after games. What can I say to him? I want more goals, get me more corners – I can't say anything more to him. I just say to replicate what he does again.
"We are seeing a guy right now in his prime. He's been outstanding for us."
