Pardew set to make changes

Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew has admitted that he will make changes for the EFL Cup clash with Southampton on Wednesday.

Palace have plenty of travelling to get through over the next week as they head to Southampton for the third-round tie before making their way up to Sunderland for Saturday’s Premier League clash.

Pardew has revealed that he will make changes for the trip to St Mary’s as he looks to hand chances to players who have missed out through injury or competition for places.

The likes of Yohan Cabaye and Bakary Sako are in line to get the nod on Wednesday and Pardew insists he is treating the EFL Cup seriously.

He said: "I have definitely got to give some game time to some players in Wednesday, as we had a few players who missed pre-season.

"So they must play at a certain level. There will be a lot of changes for the League Cup game.

"Of course, we want to win it but I want to see a few other players and I have got to rest the guys who played against Stoke for the weekend at Sunderland."
