Leicester Tigers Poised To Roar Into The Play Offs

There’s every chance that this weekend will see Leicester Tigers become the first Guinness Premiership side to qualify for the 2009/2010 plays offs, but don’t let any of the players or staff at Welford Road here you say that.
Various permutations could see them make the last four, but basically if they win and claim a bonus point they will once again make the last few laps in the race to Twickenham.
However such thinking is taboo amongst the Tigers who will be firmly sticking to all the sporting cliches and focusing solely on the next game. That game is away at Newcastle Falcons on Sunday and they will be looking for their first win at Kingston Park since 2004.
Tigers’ Geordan Murphy says: "We’ve gone up there in the last 5 or 6 years and we haven’t played too well. It’s really important for us this weekend that we go up their fully focused and put in a performance and hopefully we will get a win"
Flanker Jordan Crane, who scored a try when the team won the Premiership final at Twickenham last year, says
"Richard Cockerill [Leicester Tigers Head Coach] I don’t think will allow us to get complacent, we know what is expected of us, and our aim is to finish top of the league"
Four former Falcons players could be making the trip back up the A1. Toby Flood, Geoff Parling, Ben Woods, and James Grindal have left Kingston Park in the last 18 months. Craig Newby also had six months there in the 2002/03 season.
In this video, we hear more from Murphy and Crane, and also a revelation from young scrum-half Ben Young, who tells all about an embarrassing incident involving Twickenham celebrations and a champagne bottle.
