Mick Potter led the Dragons to last year's Challenge Cup final.

Mick Potter is weighing up his options after opening talks with St Helens.

Potter has been offered a new two-year deal by the Perpignan club but is now considering a move to Knowsley Road.

Anderson has long declared he is returning to Australia when his contract ends in October, and has been repeatedly linked with vacant jobs in the National Rugby League.

Potter has now emerged as favourite to succeed him with reports suggesting he could even be unveiled by the end of the week.

But the 44-year-old insists he has not yet decided between staying in France or taking on the challenge of coaching a Super League giant.

Potter's stock has risen after he guided Dragons to the Challenge Cup final at Wembley last August and they are now third in the Super League.

The Australian began his coaching career in England in 1996 as assistant to Matthew Elliot as Bradford Bulls before returning to Australia. He joined Catalans in February 2006.
