Barrett may ask to be released from his Wigan contract for family reasons.
Beavis claims the Australian plans to meet Warriors chairman Ian Lenagan.
Trent Barrett, 30, joined Wigan from St George Illawarra Dragons in 2006 and is less than halfway through a three-year deal at the JJB Stadium.
If he leaves, three Australian clubs - the Dragons, Canberra and Canterbury Bulldogs - are expected to chase his signature for 2009.
