Saracens winger Chris Ashton has been banned for 13 weeks after being found guilty of biting Northampton prop Alex Waller.
The 29-year-old had to attend a hearing in front of an RFU disciplinary panel on Tuesday, which lasted six hours, following the incident with Waller.
Ashton was accused of biting the Northampton man on the arm at a ruck during Saracens’ 27-12 Premiership victory at Allianz Park.
The panel looked at two counts of biting but decided to dismiss the second charge, while Ashton denied both offences.
The minimum suspension for a guilty verdict was 12 weeks, with a more serious offence potentially carrying a ban of up to 208 weeks.
The Saracens man will be able to return for the Premiership side on December 19.
