Chris Ashton looks set to be cited after he allegedly bit the hand of Alex Waller during Saracens' 27-12 win over Northampton Saints.

The England winger, who has struggled to get back into the international set-up under head coach Eddie Jones, appeared to make contact with Waller's hand during a scrap on the floor in the first half of Saturday's Aviva Premiership encounter.

Match referee Greg Garner took no action during the contest, and the former Northampton winger's fate rests with match citing commissioner Mike Rafter.

Former Wigan Warriors star Ashton could find himself on the end of another suspension if the citing goes through and he is found guilty of an infringement.

Saracens director of rugby Mark McCall admitted he was aware of the incident but refused to make any comment about Ashton's actions.

He said: "There is a good chance Chris will be cited, so we will see what happens.

"I have heard the accusation. I haven't seen the incident. These things will run [their] course."
