Farrell back for Saracens

Farrell back for Saracens

Saracens have been handed a boost with the news that Owen Farrell is fit to start against Toulon in the European Champions Cup.

The fly-half is yet to play so far this term having been troubled by a back and hip injury, with Alex Lozowski deputising in his absence.

However, he has now recovered sufficiently to play a starting role in his side's opening European fixture of the campaign down at the Stade Felix Mayol.

Meanwhile, back-row Jackson Wray will make his 150th appearance for the club when he lines up at blindside flanker.

Saracens are the defending European champions and will be looking to lay down a marker against the side who have won this competition in the three previous years.

Boss Mark McCall admits his side will need to be at their best against Toulon, but feels last week's win over Wasps will stand them in good stead against Diego Dominguez's men.

He told the club's official website: "Our game against Wasps was good preparation for a game like Saturday's but there are parts of game where we'll need to step up for a team as strong as Toulon.

"We have a group who relish these kinds of challenges and big occasions – I'm confident that our players will thrive in such an atmosphere."
