Giants must handle pressure - Lawrence

Huddersfield Giants back-row Michael Lawrence insists the squad must learn to handle the pressure ahead of the clash with Leeds Rhinos.

The Giants find themselves in a hugely different position from 12 months ago when they finished third in the Super 8s before losing to Wigan in the semi-finals.

Rick Stone’s side now have to fight for their lives to retain their Super League status after seeing Leigh promoted last weekend.

However, Lawrence insists they can bounce back from that loss to the Centurions but feels it will come down to handling the pressure when they face Leeds Rhinos on Sunday.

Lawrence said: "We went through the video on Monday and it wasn't pleasant watching but we've dusted ourselves off. Sulking is not going to help us.

"It's still in our own hands - if we can knock off these next two games we're safe - but we're going to have to play a lot better to get the result.

"It's a different kind of pressure but we need to learn how to handle it better. Obviously we didn't handle it well in the last minute last year.

"This time we need to start well and handle the pressure all the way through.”
