Andy Murray is playing down his chances of winning Wimbledon as the hype grows around the British number one.
Murray won his first grass tournament at the weekend as he became the first British player in over seventy years to be victorious at Queens.
Despite Murray, now the world number three, not coming up against any real tough competition on his way to the title he seems to have made a seamless transition from the clay onto the grass and is now considered a real threat at SW19.
However Murray doesn’t underestimate the opposition talking to BBC sport he said: I know how hard it is to win Wimbledon and I won't be getting ahead of myself. Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal are the favourites - I'm in the group behind.
“I think I'm in the group of three or four guys that are challenging for the Wimbledon title, but are not the out and out favourites.
"Normally Queen's is quite a good benchmark of where guys are in their preparations for Wimbledon and it was a very good start for me, I played well over the two weeks.”
The momentum is well a truly with Roger Federer who comes to Wimbledon off the back of his historic French Open which saw him come just the sixth man to win all four Grand Slam titles.
Despite battling a knee injury that saw him pull out of Queens Rafael Nadal is still hoping to defend his Wimbledon title.
Nadal and Federer have contested the final for the last three years with Nadal getting the better of his rival last year in a tense final that went the full five sets.
But with the likes of Andy Roddick, Tommy Haas, Novak Djokovic and Juan Martin Del Potro the winner may not come from the top two.
