Roddick and Murray Progress Into Quarters

Andy Murray's good form at the Aegon Championships has he enjoyed another straight sets victory over Guillermo Garcia-Lopez 6-4 6-4.

It was the first time that the pair had met and the Spaniard proved to be tougher opposition for the top seed than his previous match.

The opening few games went comfortably with serve but there was a tense moment when the Spaniard  slipping on the grass and fell awkwardly. But he managed to get to his feet with no sign of injury and hold his service game.

But it was errors from the young Spanish player that hand Murray the break that he needed leading 5-4 and serving for the set.

There was still fight in Garcia-Lopez's game at the beginning of the second as he held onto the first two of his service games.

But Murray's class and experience began to show as he ground down the Spaniard's resistance to break and take 4-2 lead.
 
Although Garica -Lopez managed to reduce Murray's lead he was too strong and won the set 6-4. He will now face the big hitting American Mardy Fish who comfortably saw off Feliciano Lopez 6-1 6-4.

But the match of the day came in the form of Lleyton Hewitt vs Andy Roddick, both multiple champions at Queens. The match got under way fifteen minutes later after a bomb threat.

The first set was a tight affair as neither man being able to get a handle on their opponents serve. Roddick, known for his big serve, was impressive but Hewitt was refused to be intimidated and matched him all the way.

The first set was forced to a tie break, also a close encounter, with Roddick just edging past to take the advantage.

It was more of the same into the second neither of them posing any threat on the others serve while holding on to their own in impressive style.

A second tie break followed and it was Hewitt that lost his concentration as he bungled a volley to give Roddick the advantage.

And the American took serving up two big aces to seal the match 7-6 (7-2) 7-6 (7-4). Roddick will now meet Ivo Karlovic.

So the quarter final line-up looks like this:
