Caroline Wozniacki ended the dream run of American teenager Melanie Oudin as she defeated her in straight sets to make it to her first Grand Slam semi-final.

Nineteen year old Wozniacki is one of the most promising women on the WTA and she has risen to number nine in the world so far this year.

Oudin has been on a great run throughout the tournament putting out seeds Elena Dementieva and Maria Sharapova, as well as producing a spirited fight back against Nadia Petrova.

But she had no answer to Wozniacki's inspired play as she was broken in the very first game. Oudin's game was riddled with errors and Wozniacki took full advantage opening up a 5-1 lead.

The American pulled a game back but it wasn't to be enough as Wozniacki wrapped up the set in the eighth game, despite wasting the first two set points, she clinched it with the third to take the lead.

At 2-2 it looked like Oudin was going to make another famous comeback but she missed to chances to break Wozniacki and take the lead.

The Dane took full advantage of her opponent's missed opportunity and won the next four games in impressive style to book her place in the final four.

Speaking to the BBC after the match she said: "I've never passed the fourth round before. When I made the quarter-finals I was so happy. Now I'm in the semi-finals and hopefully I can try and win the next match."

She will now face the unseeded Yanina Wickmayer who saw off Kateryna Bondarenko in a more competitive match.

Early in the first set it went with serve but a break by Wickmayer left her serving for the set at 5-4. But Bondarenki hit back to break and level the set.

But she was broken in the next game before Wickmayer went on to serve for the set, clinching it 7-5.

But Bondarenko powered back to open up a 4-1 lead. But errors began to creep into her game and Wickmayer took full advantage to reel of five consecutive games to win 7-5 6-4  and book her place in the semi.

Wickmayer is the second unseeded Belgian to make the semi-finals as wildcard Kim Clijsters book her place in the final four on Tuesday.

The semi-finals line-up:

Caroline Wozniaki (9) vs Yanina Wickmayer

Serena Williams (2) vs Kim Clijsters (WC)
