Jelena Jankovic was back in the winners enclosure in Indian Wells as she took the title in an impressive straight sets with over second seed Caroline Wozniacki.
Jankovic has struggled in the early part of the season and Indian Wells is her first title since August 2009.
Despite being the underdog in the match the former world number one produced some great tennis to immediately gain the upper-hand in the match.
She broke Wozniacki three times in the opening set as the nineteen year old struggled with her first serve percentage to take it 6-2.
Jankovic struck again at the beginning of the second to get the decisive break that she needed and there was no way back for Wozniacki.
The sixth seed wrapped up the match 6-2 6-4 to finally kick off her 2010 season.
Speaking to the BBC after her match Jankovic said: "It's been a great two weeks, really amazing. I'm so happy and so thrilled I was able to win this title.
"I went out there knowing my game plan. I wanted to be really aggressive, but at the same time patient and not really go for too much or go over the limit with some balls.
"I waited for my opportunities, and when I had them, I took them."
Despite her loss to Jankovic yesterday teenager Wozniacki has risen to a career high of number two as the new rankings were released today.
